Story

This beer started from a firkin of red ale that was just begging for some flavor. It was nearing pepper season, and in Weld county many family farms grow really great peppers.  For foodies who love to cook and eat, hand-picking your peppers from Ft. Lupton Ander's Farm is a treat. We picked a few bushels, unsure of what we would do with these locally grown habaneros.

Friend of the brewery Arnie brought over his hand-made roaster, crafted from an old bench press and scrap metal. We roasted all of the habaneros and set them aside, unsure of what to do with these glorious little peppers.

Tino, another brewery friend, was coming back from Palisade brought 10 cases of "second class peaches" that were bruised and ripe with sweetness. Unlike the pristine, girly, helpless white-gowned peach, these peaches were just dripping with flavor. The peaches were cut up and added to that conditioning ale in the firkin.

Jeff then thought of the roasted peppers, donned some gloves, chopped them up, and tossed it all into the firkin. Jeff took a tiny bite of one of the habaneros in the process, and had a beautiful sensation of toasted smokiness. The blissful taste didn't last long, as soon it felt like a really hot blade entered the back of his head and pierced his tongue, filling him instantly with remorse and regret.

We tasted the beer every day, then transferred the beer to bottles as soon as the heat was right.

This ale flavored with second class peaches and backyard-roasted beer needed a label of strength and attitude. The label features our version of a "southern peach" with a tattoo--she won't take crap from anyone.

The roastiness of this beer comes right at the end, finishing with a little bit of heat. When the heat comes in, you're ready for another sip that starts sweet--like a roller coaster ride for your taste buds.

Try using this beer for cooking chicken thighs and breasts, adding 6-8oz of Peach Habanero to chicken, marinate overnight, then bake it in the beer. Your chicken will be sweet, spicy, and delicious.

SPECS

One of our latest favorites returns with gusto! Our big caramelly American red ale is aged on fresh roasted habaneros and Palisade peaches to create a dynamic play from sweet malt and peach to a mellow roasted pepper finish, leaving a light chili warmth, adding the final yet subtle dimension to this tasty liquid treat.
